DESPISED ICON Announces New Guitarist
March 23, 2007Vocalist Alex Erian of the Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"After going through tons of audition videos, we'd like to introduce our new guitarist; from Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Alan Glassman (GORATORY, ex-BURN IN SILENCE). Al learned and played the songs perfectly but most of all, he's an awesome dude and we're glad to have him as a guitarist and as a friend. He joined us on our latest Canadian tour and proved to us and to the rest of the crowd that he's the perfect guy for the band. Thumbs up!
"We just got home from our Canadian tour a couple of days ago. Almost every single show was sold out! We hadn't toured home in while and we'd like to thank everyone that showed up for making this a memorable experience. We are currently touring Europe with UNEARTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY and DAATH. This is our first time touring overseas and we are stoked about it. We hope to see you there!"
DESPISED ICON has set "The Ills of Modern Man" as the title of its highly anticipated sophomore album, due in Europe on May 21 via Century Media Records (one day later in North America). A brand new song off the upcoming CD, "In the Arms of Perdition", is available for streaming at the band's MySpace page. The group recently shot a video for the track with director Jean-Philippe Bernier. This clip is said to be "a stunning performance-based offering that puts emphasis on the band's frantic live intensity." Look for it to make its debut this spring.
"The Ills of Modern Man" was recorded with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (BENEATH THE MASSACRE, ION DISSONANCE, NEURAXIS). The new effort was mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, MEGADETH).
DESPISED ICON's undying work ethic throughout 2006 earned them a rabid and loyal underground following through high-profile tours alongside such esteemed acts as HATEBREED, BEHEMOTH, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, NAPALM DEATH, EXODUS, MORBID ANGEL, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD and KRISIUN. The group's unrelenting stage presence was unmatched as their latest album, "The Healing Process", was hailed as a stunning slab of sheer aggression backed with impeccable time changes that quickly raised the bar for their peers.
